Ol' Tom On The Road

Two of our friends with Open Season TV have already had some early season success with Ol' Tom gear. Elite Team member Stephan Richardson guided this young hunter as he harvested this bird at just 10 yards. Eddie Stripling harvested this nice Alabama bird during an afternoon hunt which he filmed himself because his hunting partner couldn't make the hunt.

Congrats guys, and thanks for trusting your hunts to Ol' Tom!

Feedback from the Field - What Hunters Say About Ol' Tom

The Eastern Easter Gobbler
By Jason Thompson
I spent Good Friday in the woods with my wife Carmen where we heard several gobblers on the roost that were quiet by the early morning. The wind didn't help, as it was howling as a small cool front was beginning to push through north Alabama. We ended up leaving empty handed but had a great time enjoying the time in the field.

When the results were announced for the 2010 Alabama State Turkey Calling Championships, Woodhaven Sting Team and Ol' Tom pro-staff members claimed all six titles. Starting in the Junior Division, Woodhaven owner and Ol' Tom Elite member Mike Penecost could not be prouder.

His children took the top two rankings as daughter Micah Penecost placed first and Benjamin Penecost followed in second. Anna Leigh McGraw, daughter of Ol' Tom Elite and Woodhaven Sting Team member Sadler McGraw, finished third while calling in her very first contest.

The amateur division was won by Clay Watts, a newcomer to Woodhaven and competition calling, followed by Anna Leigh McGraw in second place. The top three spots in the Friction division were all Woodhaven/Ol' Tom team members, with Terence Williamson first, Sadler McGraw second, and Mike Pentecost third. Sadler McGraw also won the Owl Hooting State Open Division, and the State Senior Division, while Mike Pentecost finished second in the State Senior Division.

This contest was hosted by the Alabama State Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation at the Oxford Civic Center in Oxford, Alabama on March 6, 2010.

Ol' Tom Elite Team Member Mitchell Johnston wins 2010 Grand National Turkey
Feb. 20, 2010 - Congratulations to Mitchell Johnston of Purlear, NC, in winning the 2010 Grand National Turkey Calling Championship at the NWTF Nation Convention this weekend.

The Grand National competition is considered the premier turkey calling contest and the most coveted title in competition turkey calling. Mitchell earned a spot in the competition round of just 15 callers from a field of 48 contestants on Friday.

Mitchell produced a flawless routine on Saturday to win the 2010 title. Mitchell finished 5th in 2009, so being on stage at trophy time is nothing new for him.
